15 activities to do with kids this summer

Summer is here and the kids will soon be bored out of their minds and you will be burnt out of ideas on what to do with so much extra time! I hope I can inspire you to do a few of these inexpensive activities with your kiddos this summer if you haven’t already done them of course!

  1. Ride bikes around the neighborhood or park, or even better bust out the roller blades
  2. Visit your local library and teach them how to get a library card and check out books.
  3. Explore new parks in your town.
  4. Go camping in your backyard. We have a huge backyard, and ill admit this one scares me a bit because we live out in the country. Even if you don’t sleep overnight, lay out on some blankets and watch the stars and see if you can catch some shooting stars!
  5. Make smores outdoors.
  6. Catch some bugs. Dollar tree has some super affordable and fun bug catching kid tools.
  7. Don’t miss out on 4th of July parades.
  8. Binocular bird watching. Try to find out what type of birds they are by googling them with the kids.
  9. Build a fort. I allow myself to build forts in the living room all the time, in one condition, the fort comes down before bed time.
  10. Plant some flowers fruits or veggies and watch them grow. Teach them to water and care for them.
  11. Let your kids direct a play. This reminds me of when my sister, cousins and I would make up plays and act them out in front of my parents. Now I let my kids do the same.
  12. Run in the sprinklers!!!!!
  13. If your bilingual and your kiddos are not yet, teach them new words each day! We’ve been practicing their Spanish.
  14. Go fishing! Make sure you have fishing licenses if needed.
  15. Enjoy an ice cream at your local ice cream parlor. Our most recent spot has been Leon’s here in Lemoore, and were excited for La Michoacána to come in to town.
  16. Yes, I said 15 but why not 1 more, visit your closest beach for a day trip if you can! If there is no beach, find a bed of water, a canal, a river, a lake, or even a forest with some river beds my childhood fav is Nisene Marks in Aptos!

Hope you can get some ideas from this easy and inexpensive list of activities, don’t forget to tag me on your socials if you do @celestcoronaa

Have fun and stay cool!
