How to stay healthy & sane during quarantine

I will start by stating that we are all in very different quarantine situations right now. Some of us are still working (shot out to the essential workers, risking their health), some of us are working from home, some of us were laid off, some of us had to shut down shop as entrepreneurs and cant do any work from home.

Our family sizes and dynamics are different too. Some have no kids, some have small kids, some have teenagers, some still have to split custody with other parent, some live and care for their parents.

You get the point, we are all in different situations and also in different emotional phases. Some of us are OK, some of us are struggling a bit but know we will get buy, and some of us are losing all hope. With that being said, any of the recommended tips are only suggestions and should be adapted only if your emotional and mental being allows you to.

I want you to listen to your mind and your body, what is it telling you, is it telling you, you need to be more active and its tired of sitting all day? Is it telling you, I’m not up for anything right now, anything added on to my day will cause me more stress and cause me to break. Either way, Im sure a few of the tips on here will resonate with you and will help you get through this quarantine.

So lets get started!

Stay hydrated babe. Being DE-hydrated can make you feel sluggish and tired, and rip you off of any energy. Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink water, if you do, you are already dehydrated. I always recommend half your body weight in ounces. Start small if you cant do the entire amount. but please drink yo wata!!!

Use good Hygeine. But don’t over panic, you will be OK. Social distancing, Hand washing, face masks, and hand sanitizer will do.

Drink a multi-vitamin and an immunity booster. My current ones are 1up nutrition multi-vitamin and emergen-c. this is a no brainer, you know you need vitamins to supplement all the vitamins we are not consuming on a daily from our foods. and we gotta keep up with our immune system because LA RONA!

Eat good food bro. Try to avoid over consumption of heavy carbs and sugars. I get it you are emotional and want a pint of ice-cream, but do you really need a pint to get over your emotional craving, I’m sure a scoop will do. A good trick is scoop out your ice cream from the tub on to a plate to avoid over consuming. Try to eat a lot of greens, fruits, and protein, all of these give you boosts of energy to make it through your day. Also, make sure to have healthy snacks around the house, berries and nuts are a good go to.

Meal PLAN or meal PREP. This will help with the dreaded “what the F am i going to do for dinner tonight”

Get enough sleep! Try to hit the sack early. this is so hard for me, and every time i wake up in the morning i regret my decision to staying up late watching Dateline or scrolling through IG for an hour.

Have a Routing or Just go with the flow. you know yourself better than anyone, do what feels right, but stick to it.

Move. Try to incorporate 30 min daily physical activity. Not only is good for you, you will be proud of your self, and less guilty for eating that ice cream. Physical activity is proven to boost endorphins, mood, and energy.

Do fun things. Color, paint, play with makeup, try new hairstyles from Youtube, teach your dog a new trick.

Take time to do NOTHING. Sometimes we need just still time. Watch Netflix, read a book, sunbathe outside.

Try Breathing and meditation exercises. These are hard to incorporate when you are used to living on the go go go! But now is a great time to start trying this out for the sake of your mental health.

Take your medicines, we all forget to take our medicines, so this is your reminder to take them. It also serves as a reminder to take your anti-depressant or anxiety medication if you feel you need it now.

Reach out to some one, even if its just to vent or to say hello & catch up. Having someone to talk to over the phone, through zoom or house party will help you socialize a bit. Always ask before you call you don’t know what state of mind the other person might be in, they might not be ready for that.

Order F’n take out, you don’t have to cook all the time. This is if you have the means to spend a little for take out. I understand we don’t all have the means at the moment.

Get out of you PJ’s. Even if you go from PJ’s to workout clothes, girl get out of those pj’s.

Remember we are all #alonetogether
